Free Parking in London

moove2london on 07 Oct 2009

Free parking is extremely difficult to find in London. Different councils have their own ideas about controlled parking zones and NCP carparks can cost a fortune.

So this is why Moove2London is so excited about a relatively new service called Free to Park - the SMS-based service which allows anyone with a mobile phone to text the word ‘parking‘ plus the name of a tube station to 80039 and you’ll receive a text with 3 nearby roads, within approx 5 minutes of the tube station, where parking is free. Texts cost £1.50 plus standard network text charge.

Of course this doesn’t guarantee that there will be a free space. However, Free to Park tries to work against this happening, by randomly generating a different 3 roads for each texter. So if 10 people were to text in the same tube station at the same time, they’d each receive a different 3 roads to help minimise congestion.

The most amazing thing about this service is that each of these free parking roads has been personally visited by the team at Free to Park, making it human-friendly!
